Samson Koletkar is a find.
The show was stolen by an Indian-Jewish comedian
Samson Koletkar was born in Mumbai and raised Jewish. Growing up in the world's most crowded city, he spent most of his childhood years burning the midnight candles for earning a Masters Degree in Computer Software, thereby fulfilling his parent's dreams. He then moved half-way across the world, to the technology headquarters and a hotbed for emerging comics - San Francisco.
He was included in "10 Best Indian-Origin Comedians of the Last Decade" by BookMyShow and "10 Indian Comedians Who Found Success in the U.S." by Silicon India, and SF Chronicle published a cover article on him "India-born stand-up builds comedy utopia in Oakland". He won the 2015 International Society of Humor Studies Comedy Competition and the 2010 Asian American Theater Company Comedy Competition. He finished a Finalist in 2007 Rooster T Feathers Comedy Competition and a Semi-Finalist in 2015 36th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. He was invited to perform in 2010 Great Canadian Laugh Off, 2014 39th Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition & 2011 San Francisco Comedy Day.
He is the founder of Comedy Oakland, voted "Best Place for Comedy" in 2016 East Bay Express Reader's Poll. Comedy Oakland also ranks at the top of the Best Comedy Clubs in San Francisco Bay Area on Yelp & Google. With 263 shows featuring over 500 different comedians entertaining 13,000 audiences for 400 hours in 2017, Comedy Oakland is a live stand-up comedy experience you don't want to miss!
He is the co-founder & the brains behind Desi Comedy Fest - the largest South Asian Comedy Festival in America. Desi Comedy Fest is held every August in multiple cities across the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in August 2014, the annual event has showcased 100+ comedians from diverse background, ethnicity, religion, gender, and sexual orientation, and has entertained 7000+ audiences. The Fest also completed a 4-city 20-show tour of India in 2016, 2 corporate events in Los Angeles & San Diego in 2017, and a satellite edition in Portland & Seattle in December 2017.
He is the headliner on "You're Funny But You Don't Look Jewish" comedy tour, with over 40 performances across USA & Canada. The tour is like Indian spices topping a matzot pizza served with Vietnamese iced coffee in an African American Bakery. Italian American, African American, Vietnamese American and Indian American Jewish stand-up comedians Mike Capozzola, Gina Gold, Joe Nguyen and Samson Koletkar share the stage and their own experiences about being ‘undercover’ members of the tribe!
